Kelowna summers are known for bright blue skies, relaxing beach days, and very hot weather.

Between June and August, the daytime temperature in Kelowna averages from 24 to 28 degrees (75.2 to 82.4F), while daytime lows average from 11 to 13 degrees (51.8 to 55.4F).

On June 28th, 2021, Kelowna, BC experienced a new record high temperature when temperatures reached 45.7 degrees celsius (114.26F).

Tall ponderosa pines and douglas fir trees keep Kelowna forests shady and cool through the summer months. Here are three of our favorite places to go walking and hiking near Kelowna:

  • Angel Springs via June Springs Road: A moderate 7.6km trail with wildflowers, a cooling river, and 385m elevation gain.

  • Rose Valley Regional Park: A gorgeous network of 12 forest trails for hiking, mountain biking, and dog walking in West Kelowna, BC.

  • Mission Creek Regional Park: A centrally-located Kelowna park with hiking trails, a children’s fishing pond, playground, and a covered picnic area. You can hike the flat trails of Mission Creek all year round - even during the winter, but mind your footing.
